BOM: Bill of Material

BOM or bill of material means in simple word “it’s the actual information of particular member on Shop drawings. See below snap of BOM.

Layout of BOM may vary from fabricator to fabricator. Generally BOM consist of Seq No, qty required, Main mark or piece mark, submaterial mark, information about section sizes, required length, respective grades of all steel etc.

Below BOM contain “ITEM” which is nothing but the “Page-Line” no of that particular member. Some fabricator prefers some FAB codes, which we need to add in Remark columns. Ex: In case column we need to provide “SQ. Cut at one end” we need to add “B1E” in remark.
